SCADA International acquires IT/OT consultancy company Sweet Geeks

The leading software and hardware provider to the renewable energy sector, SCADA International, expands with the acquisition of Danish IT/OT consultancy firm Sweet Geeks. The new deal is a part of SCADA International’s ambitious growth journey to stand even stronger as a strategic partner for key players in the green transition, says Thomas Bagger, CEO at SCADA International.

SILKEBORG, DENMARK — December 20, 2023 — SCADA International expands its business by acquiring Sweet Geeks. The company employs more than 35 senior consultants who, since 2017, have assisted multiple Danish and international key players in the energy industry. The acquisition is a part of SCADA International’s increased strategic focus, and the new colleagues with unique competencies will be a fundamental part of creating stronger bonds with the customers and solving their challenges.

Sweet Geeks expects a final revenue of 50 m DKK at the end of 2023 and will remain an independent pillar within SCADA International’s portfolio. However, the ambition is to ensure synergies between the two companies and their business areas, thus creating increased growth by developing new concepts and initiatives in close collaboration.

“There is no doubt that our main customers in the industry expect us to deliver solutions across the entire value chain. By collaborating with Sweet Geeks, we can bring a broader and more in-depth set of capabilities and knowledge to both our customer portfolios and, to a greater extent, support the customers in the green energy transition,” says Thomas Bagger, CEO at SCADA International, and continues:

“Especially regarding the use of cybersecurity and integration of IT and OT systems, Sweet Geeks has some unique competencies  and deep domain knowledge that we together can transform into scalable concepts and services, creating more value for our customers and the industry in a more digital and integrated world. I am hugely looking forward to this partnership with the people at Sweet Geeks and to having them on board for this exciting new journey.”

There is also excitement to be found at Sweet Geeks, where CEO and founder Steffen Pedersen says it’s a perfect match. For him, the goal is that Sweet Geeks, through this acquisition, can scale into new markets in line with the development and growing needs of the customers while maintaining the expertise upon which their success is built:

“The time had come to find a partner who could take our knowledge and skills to the next level while still allowing room for our innovative approach and visions. We have found that in SCADA International, who, in many ways, shares our mission of being a knowledge hub and a collaborative partner for the industry.”

Steffen Pedersen and co-founder Susanne Pedersen will step out of the company as a part of the acquisition, while co-founder Brian Dørffler Heilskov will reinvest and continue in his current role at Sweet Geeks.

The transaction is expected to complete in January 2024.
