About this role

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior High Voltage (HV) Specialist to join our innovative team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design, development, and optimization of high voltage systems, components, and subsystems for our clients within our owner’s engineering team. A strong grasp of high voltage engineering principles and standards, coupled with exceptional problem-solving skills, is essential. Commitment to safety and adherence to industry standards is a must.

  • Conduct conceptual and detailed design for complete HV substations and medium voltage (MV) collector networks.
  • Optimize costs and revenues for hybrid power plants, incorporating wind, photovoltaic (PV), Power-to-X (PtX), battery energy storage systems (BESS), and other renewable energy sources and loads.
  • Size and select HV/MV components, including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, cables, protection systems, and earthing solutions.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of procurement processes and engage effectively in OEM negotiations.
  • Develop control topology for HV substations, including Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  •  Ensure the delivery of robust HV system designs that comply with local regulation and industry standards by conducting insulation coordination, lightning protection, protection, energization, load flow, and short-circuit studies.
  • Work with system voltage ranges of 10-400 kV.
  • Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in high voltage engineering, with a proven track record of designing and optimizing HV systems. Expertise in relevant calculation and simulation tools for HV engineering design, such as ETAP, PSCAD, DigSILENT PowerFactory, or similar software is required
